A lot of people know Caltech’s academic reputation, but few in the surrounding communities realized the university also had a vibrant performing arts series. Connecting to the established brand identity by having some fun with the associated “nerdy” image, gave the series an identity, and made the institution feel far more friendly and accessible, which was directly reflected in record box office sales.
